Naxals' urban network, SIMI cells under scanner in Chhattisgarh

At least three neighbouring districts are considered Naxal-infested.

Bhopal: Intelligence agencies stepped up vigilance on Maoists’ urban networks and sleeper cells of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in Chhattisgarh, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on June 14.

Security has been tightened in six districts in Chhattisgarh in the wake of reports that Maoists were hatching a conspiracy to eliminate him. Mr Modi was scheduled to inaugurate a newly commissioned unit in Bhilai Steel Plan, a PSU, in Durg district in Chhattisgarh, on June 14.

At least three neighbouring districts are considered Naxal-infested.
