Hyderabad: Students have alleged that the MNR Medical College, Sangareddy, is seeking exorbitant sums of money to allow them to appear for their annual exams.
Some students who were supposed to appear for the university exams in February were detained for six months for lack of attendance. They were assured that they could write the exams in the subsequent semester. The students now claim that while they had agreed to pay Rs 3,000 as exam fees, they are being asked for Rs 14,000.
“Not only did they detain us for six months, they are demanding money. We attended the classes and ensured that the requirements were met. Why are we not being allowed to sit for the examination,” said a student. The college has been banned from renewing MBBS seats by the Medical Council of India for the upcoming academic year. It is not allowed to take in a fresh batch of students whereas the existing students can complete their graduation.
The college said they just asked the students for their examination fees and nothing more.
