Major police reshuffle in TN, new IGP for south zone

Tirupur, Madurai, T'veli to get new commissioners.

Chennai: In the latest rejig of IPS officers in the state, two DIGs have been promoted as Inspector General, while K.P. Shanmuga Rajeswaran has been posted as IG of South Zone. S. Davidson Devasirvatham, IG (Welfare, Chennai) has been transferred and posted as the Commissioner for Madurai city.

S. Manoharan, who was included in the panel of Inspector Generals in February and kept on compulsory wait has been promoted as IG and posted as Commissioner of Tirupur city, replacing P. Nagarajan. Similarly, J Bhaskaran, Deputy Inspector General (Social Justice and Human Rights, Chennai) has been promoted as IG and posted in the Operations wing in the existing vacancy.

P Nagarajan, the present Tirupur Commissioner has been transferred to Chennai and posted as IG (Training), replacing K.P. Shanmuga Rajeswaran. The latter is replacing Shailesh Kumar Yadav, as IG of South Zone, Madurai. Shailesh Kumar Yadav has been transferred to Armed Police in Chennai and posted in the existing vacancy.

Meanwhile, S. Davidson Devasirvatham, IG (Welfare, Chennai) has been transferred and posted as the Commissioner for Madurai city, replacing Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal. Davidson was removed as IG of Intelligence Wing in February last year soon after Edappadi K. Palaniswami took charge as Chief Minister. He was appointed as IG (Intelligence) by the then Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.

S.N. Seshasai who was Additional Commissioner (Headquarters, Chennai) has been posted as IG (Welfare, Chennai) vice Davidson Devasirvatham.

Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal has been transferred from the post of Madurai Commissioner and posted as IG (Special Investigation Division, CB-CID, Chennai). N. Bhaskaran, IG, (Crime Chennai) will hereafter be IG of Tamil Nadu Police Academy in the existing vacancy. Dr Mahendra Kumar Rathod (DIG, Technical Services) has been posted as Commissioner of Tirunelveli city, while N.Z. Asiammal (DIG, Training) will take over as the DIG of Technical Services.
