Kerala State Road Transport Corporation set to spruce up its image
Kochi: Often under fire for failing to meet expectations of passengers, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is taking to the social media for an image makeover. "We noticed much false information about the corporation getting circulated on platforms like Facebook. Often we don't get a chance to get their facts straight," a senior officer said. "Now we couldn't afford to ignore the platforms like Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp."
The corporation has formed a seven-member 'Social Media Cell' headed by G. Anil Kumar, executive director (operations). "We also aim at disseminating information about bus services. Also, the public could make inquiries, post their complaints and sent their feedback," the officer said. The team would work from the chief office in the state capital, after their duty hours and they will get computers and other gadgets.
They will also highlight passenger-friendly initiatives by KSRTC employees besides the corporation's achievements, especially in operations. "All departments were asked to hand over information to the cell for sharing on the social media. Another task is to identifying and reporting rumour-mongers to take legal action," he said.
