Pre-monsoon rains cool Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The city received another round of pre-monsoon thundershowers on Friday.
Moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded in Medchal, Nampally, Red Hills, Lakdi-ka-pul and Begumpet. The weather department has attributed this shower to a passing thunderstorm and not the arrival of south-west monsoons.
Heavy pre-monsoon rains that started in Hyderabad last week are a welcome break from the oppressive heat.
The showers are due to the low-pressure area that has developed over west-central Bay of Bengal, off the Andhra and Odisha coast. With this, humid winds have been blowing over Hyderabad, which is leading to the formation of convective clouds over the city and finally leading to rains.
Good amount of rains and thundershowers are predicted over Telangana including Hyderabad till June 11.
Night temperatures have dipped considerably and are hovering around 20°C.
Update on south-west monsoon:
South-west monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Konkan, interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The south-west monsoon is expected to further cover Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 2-3 days.
Warning for TS on June 10:
High likelihood of heavy rain at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana.
