N Chandrababu Naidu: Kapunadu leader painting me as demon
Anantapur: Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at Kapunadu leader Mudragada Padmanabham for supporting rowdy elements who perpetrated violence and terrorised people in Tuni carnage.
Taking objection to his repeated agitations, Mr Naidu observed, "Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy did nothing for the Kapu community since 2004 when he was in power but Mr Padmanabham keeps praising him. The TD government initiated all necessary steps for the welfare of the Kapus but I am being picturised as a demon."
Speaking to mediaperosns at Kadapa on Thursday, Mr Naidu wondered what was wrong if rowdy elements involved in arson were taken into custody.
"There were never such violent incidents witnessed in Godavari districts. The Tuni incident was provoked by outsiders. The rowdy elements torched a train and also attacked police stations," he said and added that maintenance of law and order is the priority of the government.
Mr. Naidu reminded that he constituted the Kapu Corporation, granted funds for it for the welfare of the community but lamented that he was being considered an 'enemy'.
The chief minister urged the Kapu leaders, including Mudragada Padmanabham, to withdraw agitation and cooperate with the government in the interest of the state.
The new state is already facing many problems, he said and added that he was taking all measures to do justice to Kapus by constituting Kapu Welfare Committee and informed that he allotted Rs 1,000 crore for the welfare and development of the community.
The committee is studying the feasibility of providing reservation in an appropriate manner, he said.
