KCR reviews development work in villages in his home district
Sangareddy: The Godavari river water will be available for irrigation in Gajwel Assembly segment in Medak district in the next two years after which farmers will be able to get three crops per year, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday said.
Rao was addressing a grama sabha (village meet) at Yerravalli in Medak, his home district. He said farmers in Gajwel will start getting the Godavari water for irrigation purpose in the next two years.
This will help agriculturists to cultivate three crops in a year without any hurdle. The Pamalaparty irrigation project will be completed in the next two years and it will cater to all the needs of the area, said Rao, popularly known as KCR.
The CM also reviewed ongoing development works in Yerravalli and Narsannapet villages and distributed 42 tractors worth Rs 3 crore to landless and poor farmers under a self-employment initiative of the Government.
Speaking at the meet, he further said nearly 3,000 acres of land will be cultivated in Yerravalli and Narsannapet through drip irrigation techniques for which the Government is making efforts.
Services of agronomists will be availed to cultivate crops as per soil and weather conditions, the CM said. "This year we are expecting a good monsoon which will not only ensure a good crop, but also help in having sufficient water for second crop."
Rao said double bedroom houses will be handed over to beneficiaries of a Government scheme in these villages on August 4.
All the houses in Yerravalli and Narsannapet will be connected with Internet for which Reliance Communications has already carried out a survey and actual work will start soon, the Chief Minister said.
"Our aim is to make Yerravalli and Narsannapet model villages in the State," he added.
