Expert says dog owner is liable for the deaths
Visakhapatnam: Following the death of the two workers who were trying to flee a dog at a building in the port city on Thursday, the legal fraternity and trade unions leaders have demanded that the police to register criminal cases against dog owner Narava Rambabu. They demanded that he should pay compensation to the families of the deceased.
“The owner of the building where the dog was chained is vicariously liable for the death of two workers, and police must register a case under Section 304A IPC (death due to negligence). The families of the deceased can claim compensation under the Specific Relief Act. The owner cannot escape liability under any circumstances, because it was his negligence that resulted in the death of the workers,” said senior advocate and president of Forum of Legal Professionals Mr Kuppili Muralidhar.
“The collector should sanction money under the Apathbandhu scheme and meet the funeral expenses of the deceased,” he added.
