Mend your ways or face the music: Cheluvarayaswamy to H D Kumaraswamy

Mr Cheluvarayaswamy claimed that the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition was in evidence only in Mandya and not the rest of the state.

Bengaluru: Former minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy on Thursday openly batted for coordination committee chairman, Siddaramaiah as Chief Minister, arguing that the state needed a CM who represented all communities and warned Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to mend his ways or “face the consequences”.

Speaking to reporters in Mandya, he contended, “It's of no use if you become CM for a particular community. The state needs a leader, who takes everyone and every community into confidence. Mr Kumaraswamy's party won just 38 seats in the 2018 Assembly polls, and so he had better learn how to behave with a party that bagged 79 seats. He should mend his ways or the expected will take place.”

Mr Cheluvarayaswamy claimed that the Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) coalition was in evidence only in Mandya and not the rest of the state.

“Both parties joined hands only to please a few national leaders. This kind of situation crops up if those at the helm of affairs fail to behave in a manner appropriate to their posts. The state government held back the elections to the Mandya Apex bank for no reason. Although it was one of the best performing banks in the state, an administrator was deliberately appointed to run it," he regretted.

Referring to rumours that the government intended to order an investigation into alleged irregularities in the bank’s running, he said Mr Kumaraswamy should be aware that the person, who was allegedly involved in irregularities in the Shivamogga DCC bank and went to jail for it, had been appointed president of the district JD(S) unit. “Let the Chief Minister set this right first,” he demanded.
