4/4: Can PM Modi repeat 2014 magic in Himachal Pradesh?

The BJP had won all seats in 2014.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi will address first election rally of the ongoing poll season in Himachal Pradesh on Friday, the hill state where the four Lok Sabha seats will go to polls in the last phase of the seven phased polling on May 19. The BJP had won all seats in 2014.

With the BJP's 'star campaigner' and "poll mascot" Mr Modi coming to address his first rally of the 2019 general elections in the state at Mandi and another in Solan next week, the BJP is confident of again scoring 4/4. Interestingly, Mandi along with Kangra are two of the four Lok Sabha seats where the BJP poll managers claim the Congress strategies could dent its poll prospects.

Mandi is the home district of chief minister Jairam Thakur while Kangra was represented by veteran leader Shanta Kumar in Parliament. This is the first time that the veteran leader is not contesting because crossing the BJP's 75 years age bar. Himachal Pradesh was among the states where the BJP ushered in second generation leadership by chosing Mr Thakur over senior leaders to lead the hill state after the party defeated the Congress in the last Assembly polls.
