Hyderabad High Court notices to Eflu officials on recruitments
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has asked the Vice Chancellor and Registrar of the English and Foreign Languages University, University Grants Commission and the Union Ministry of Human Resources to spell out their stand on a PIL seeking to declare the orders issued by them, making certain appointments, as illegal and against the Recruitment Rules of the varsity.
A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K Vijaya Lakshmi was dealing with the PIL by Bala Sivudu, a caretaker in the varsity, alleging that the varsity authorities have made appointments to the posts of technical assistants, junior library assistants, junior office assistants, drivers and attendants in violation of the varsity rules.
Mr Lakshman, Assistant Solicitor General, objecting to the PIL, contended that it was a purely service matter and a PIL was not maintainable. Refuting his contention, the bench said that there was nothing wrong with the PIL when authorities filled posts with their kith and kin.
While issuing notices to the respondents, including the appointees to the above posts, the bench adjourned the case till after the summer vacation.
