Coimbatore: Dad upset as CBI drops DSP's case

The case of Vishnu Priya was transferred to the CBICID while politicians and her parents demanded a CBI probe.

Coimbatore: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) ended further investigation in the case of the late Tiruchengode DSP Vishnu Priya, and submitted a report at the Coimbatore Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court, claiming insufficient witness.

The late DSP Vishnu Priya allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself on September 18, 2015, at her residence while she was handling the murder case of Gokul Raj as investigating officer. Vishu Priya's father Ravi and friends alleged departmental harassment as the reason for her suicide in connection with the case.

The case of Vishnu Priya was transferred to the CBICID while politicians and her parents demanded a CBI probe. Later on, Ravi petitioned the Madras high court demanding a CBI probe and received a verdict in his favour.

After investigating many people including Ravi and Vishnu Priya's friends, the CBI submitted a report recently at the Coimbatore Chief Judicial Magistrate's court to drop further investigation claiming that sufficient witness in the case was not available. Vishnu Priya's father Ravi was asked to appear before the court on Wednesday to disclose his opinion regarding the CBI dropping the case.

Ravi told the DC, “My further course of action will be based on a copy of the CBI report which I am supposed to receive on May 24th but I will not stop till the offenders behind the case are punished.”

Anitha Ravi, the lawyer who appeared on behalf of Vishnu Priya's father said that they were not satisfied with the statement of the CBI.
