Chelameswar declines farewell
Sources said that he had told the SCBA delegation that he was not attending farewell as he was not comfortable in such functions.
New Delhi: Justice J Chelameswar, who spearheaded a revolt in January this year along with three other senior judges, on Wednesday declined the request of the Supreme Court Bar Association to accept a farewell in his honour on the eve of his superannuation next week.
Though Justice Chelameswar will formally retire on June 22, as the last working day for him falls during summer vacation, his last sitting in the court is May 18. Justice Chelameswar reportedly cited personal reasons to decline the request. Sources said that he had told the SCBA delegation that he was not attending farewell as he was not comfortable in such functions.
