Tension at rowdy sheeter Aamir Ali Khan's funeral

5 cops hurt in stone-throwing, paramilitary deployed, 26 detained.

Hyderabad: Tension gripped Sriramnagar during the funeral of rowdy sheeter Aamir Ali Khan who was murdered on Sunday night. As the funeral procession was passing by the house of main suspect Narendra, Aamir’s relatives threw stones at the house and at the houses of his relatives. They also torched five vehicles including a police Blue Colts bike.

Five police officers suffered injuries in the stone pelting. The paramilitary was deployed in the area. Hyderabad police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy said that 26 suspects have been detained and the situation is under control. Police registered four cases in Jubilee Hills and one in SR Nagar police stations.

The Jubilee Hills police also arrested four suspects who were involved in Aamir’s murder and remanded them. The suspects are S. Narender alias Khanna, 21, Rajesh, 20, Mahesh, 20, and G. Mahesh, 23.

On Monday Aamir's body was brought to his house in Borabanda after autopsy. Later, his relatives took out his funeral procession. The police had deployed forces in the area. When the procession reached the house of main suspect Narender, Aamir’s relatives started raising slogans and suddenly a group started throwing stones at Narender’s house and at his relatives’ houses. Some people barged into the houses, damaged property and looted valuables.

Meanwhile, some of them damaged the glass panes of a school van and torched a bike. Additional forces were rushed to the spot but the mob started pelting stones at cops.

Punjagutta ACP M. Venkateshwarlu, Jubilee Hills additional inspector K. Muthu, SR Nagar additional inspector P Satish and home guard Srikanth were injured. They were later declared out of danger. Two houses were damaged. Police resorted to caning to control the mob and it took around two hours to restore normalcy. Police registered a case for torching a vehicle, and an attempt to murder case for attacking a person and for damaging the house of one Tirupathi. A criminal trespassing and rioting case and another case was registered at the SR Nagar police station.
