Telangana transport department hikes rates for services
Hyderabad: The Telangana transport department on Tuesday revised service/user charges on various services. The user charges are for services like issue of driving licence, vehicle registration, as also issue of fitness certificate and vehicle permits.
Principal secretary Sunil Sharma said in a government order that the fees will be implemented with immediate effect and the government has taken up a revision of the surcharges after 14 years. Based on the orders, the IT wing of the transport department is upgrading its software and apps and it will be ready by Wednesday.
Auto-rickshaw and transport unions are criticising the government for imposing more burden on them. Auto-rickshaw drivers’ JAC leader A. Sathi Reddy said that the Union Government revised the fee structure two months back which had become a burden to auto-rickshaw drivers. “Now the state government took its turn to exploit motorists. We request the government to withdraw the decision in cases of auto-rickshaws,” he said.
