Come Sundays, it's dogs' day out in Cubbon Park

Giving morning joggers company the dogs arrive in the city's most famous lung space on Sundays to spend three hours between 8am and 11am.

Bengaluru: They come in all sizes, shapes and breeds, pulling at their leashes as their owners try to keep them from being too frisky. But the excited barking continues as pet dogs of all hues arrive in Cubbon park to enjoy a run in its green surroundings every Sunday morning.

Giving morning joggers company, the dogs arrive in the city's most famous lung space on Sundays to spend three hours between 8 am and 11am in an enclosure located in front of the central library. It's virtually a doggy club as the pets mingle and play on the green grass with their caretakers in tow.

Says Ali, the caretaker of a two year old Husky named 'Cleo', who has been bringing him to the park for four months, "Cleo gets very excited to meet his friends here and never forgets to remind me on Sundays to bring him to the park."

Kishan, the owner of a Great Dane named 'Happy,' says he has been bringing him to the park for the last two weeks. "I got to know recently about this park and have been bringing him here since. He is very active here and has already made his own gang. It is like a picnic for us to come here, leaving all our cares and work behind," he adds.

While the dog park is fenced both for the safety of the pets and to prevent other visitors from being disturbed, it is open to all dog lovers, who are are free to come here and play with them.

Giving the park a pat for its pet- friendly initiative, many of the owners are glad of the exercise and fresh air their dogs get to enjoy. With many events and dog shows also held, the "club" is a much loved park addition..

Says another dog owner, Vrushab, "I would definitely advise dog lovers to visit this park at least once . They are sure to fall in love with it. My friend told me about this place and now I have been bringing my dog, Milo here for the last two years.I have never missed a single weekend visit to the park."
