Bharosa, the support centre for victims of violence completes 1 year
Hyderabad: Bharosa, the one stop support centre for victims of violence has been of great help, said police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy. The commissioner was addressing a function held to mark the first anniversary of Bharosa.
The commissioner said that Bharosa is converting itself to a centre of excellence and will be a role model to other states.
He said that Bharosa was conceived to provide all types of help to victims of violence or sexual assault under a roof, so that they are not victimised again.
“The systems adopted by Bharosa to address the problems of victims help the victim not only to come out of trauma, but also to establish a lifetime relationship with them. The experts are also chosen in a way that they accompany the victims even after the complaint is settled,” the commissioner said.
He said that Bharosa is working in cooperation with government departments. Bharosa centre is working with SHE teams to provide safety to women.
Bharosa provides medical, legal, psychotherapeutic counselling and rehabilitation services. Bharosa has a video link with the district court to record the statements of victims, a child friendly room for statement recording and counselling of victims of child sexual abuse, counselling rooms to maintain confidentiality of clients and software to register and follow-up cases.
