YSRC to take up port-based issues
Kakinada: The YSR Congress is taking up port- based issues to protect the interests of its workers and fix the ruling Telugu Desam in to it. When the YSRC chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy comes to Kakinada to participate in the agitation for special status tag to the Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, the local YSRC leaders will bring port issues also to the notice of their leader.
Former MLA Mootha Gopalakrishna who is in command of port-based issues and also its solutions raised in front of the port workers, in particular in fisherfolk in his recent visit to the areas. His son Mootha Sashidhar, also the YSRC city coordinator arranged flex boards on the port based issues that diversion of cargo from Anchorage Port to Deep Water Port.
According to sources, when the deep water was privatised, the then CM Chandrababu Naidu made promises to the anchorage port workers and also the shipping trade that their' interests would be protected. He made an agreement that the private parties who take up deep water port should not handle traditional cargo and the cargos should be handled in anchorage port only.
However, gradually the agreement was being violated and injustice is being done to the anchorage port workers. Meanwhile, during the regime of Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, there was a scarcity of fertilisers and the farmers are agitating for speedy distribution of fertilisers to them.
“Then YS Rajasekhar Reddy issued a GO for temporary basis that 40 pc of fertiliser cargo would be done in deep water port and remaining 60 should be done in anchorage port,”” said former MLA Mootha Gopalakrishna.
