Our candidate denied prayers at church: BJP
Chennai: The BJP here has claimed that a church in Royapuram has declined to conduct prayers for its Royapuram Assembly constituency candidate Jameela claiming that she was contesting the election on behalf of the BJP.
The candidate who was campaigning in the Royapuram constituency, took a break and entered a church in Royapuram to participate in the Mother’s Day Sunday programme.
“She offered her prayers without intending to propagate in the church. But when she approached the church officials and requested them to pray for her victory in elections, her request was declined as she was a BJP candidate,” said a BJP functionary.
However, the pastor who stepped in offered to pray for her, and thus amicably resolved any conflict between the BJP members and the church officials.
