Chennai cops release images of shootout suspects
Chennai: The city police has released pictures of two suspects including the one who opened fire at a travel agent last week. It has also sent out search parties to trace suspects who are believed to have taken refuge in three states.
The assailant, believed to have fired at the victim, was wearing a black shirt, and a blue jean, and is six feet tall, bowlegged and of wheatish complexion while the other one who is party to the crime is five feet tall and of fair complexion.
A cash reward too had been announced by the city police to help identify the suspects. At present, special teams have fanned out to Rajasthan, Kerala and Karnataka.
The team, which is in Rajasthan, had established a network with the senior police officers there to help trace the suspects. Another special team has been carved out to verify the antecedents of the deceased, Babu Singh, (50), a travel agency operator, who was shot dead on Erulappan street in Sowcarpet.
The team, which is Rajasthan is also asked to probe his links back in native so as to get a clear picture as to what Babu Singh was into. “Though it is evident that he was into shady deals, there is nothing concrete. Word around in his circle is that he was into betting as well. Locals say they banked upon the deceased to settle domestic, financial, and property issues. We are not ignoring any input. We are delving deep into his finances and links to ascertain the motive, which appears to be a fallout of his shady business deal till date,” he said.
Babu Singh was shot at point-blank range with a short-range 0.762 mm bore pistol country made weapon. The bullet, which entered into his head was extracted from his nasal cavity, and was handed over to the forensics.
