Visakhapatnam: Once the CR Kamalanathan committee distributes the doctors and health officials between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the shortage of medical personnel would come down to below 2 percent, said Health minister Kamineni Srinivas.
On Monday, Mr Srinivas conducted a review meeting with the health officials of the north coastal AP districts. He discussed the status of the infrastructure, machinery and other existing facilities and shortcomings at various PHCs, CHCs, area hospitals, district hospitals and teaching hospitals in the region.
Mr Srinivas informed they recruited about 1400 doctors so far in the state. “About 40 lakh diagnostic procedures were performed at free of cost under the NTR Vaidya Pariksha, which has brought the out-of-pocket expenses down,” he said.
Medical results on hold
About 1,79,465 students had appeared for the Eamcet engineering exam and about 81.08 per cent qualified. Girls outperformed boys with 82.67 per cent qualifying Eamcet engineering.
“As there was an ambiguity in the apex court's judgment, our panel of ministers, after conducting a video conference with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, decided to postpone the Eamcet Medical results.We will seek the opinions of the advocate general and other experts regarding the SC judgment and take a final call. If needed, we will also go for NEET,” said health minister Kamineni Srinivas.
