Sloganeering hits right pitch

On Tuesday evening all electioneering ended in both Telugu states.

Hyderabad: Slogans have always played their part in elections and choosing a catchy slogan has become important to political parties in this age of sloganeering.

On Tuesday evening all electioneering ended in both Telugu states. Here are a few catchy slogans that dominated the election billboards.

Telangana Rashtra Samiti working president K.T. Rama Rao led the campaign in Telangana state creating the one-liner Karu-Saru-Padaharu-Delhi lo Mana Sarkaru (with car symbol, KCR and 16 seats, Delhi will get our government).

In Andhra Pradesh, YSRC’s song Ravali Jagan Kavali Jagan (We want Jagan, Jagan should win) attracted 20 million viewers on YouTube. Also popular was Babu Malli Meere Ravali (You should only win again, Naidu), which saw the loudest clamour during the cycle party electioneering. However, what made some chuckle was the ‘Bye Bye Babu’ campaign led by YSRC leader Y.S. Sharmila. The star campaigner of the YSRC made a scathing attack on AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and minister Nara Lokesh during the campaign. The bus in which the star campaigner travelled carried a board saying ‘Bye Bye Babu’.

“Babu kodukuki maatram muudu udhyogaalu, janaalaku matram kaneesam notification kuuda ledu (Naidu’s son Lokesh has three different jobs but there is not even an employment notification for the people of Andhra),” she said.

The party has also come up with Ninnu Nammam Bab(we will not believe you, Babu), much to the chagrin of the ruling party.
