PMK, VCK leaders take to blame game on violence

In a release on Tuesday, Ramadoss has noted that VCK cadres were posing a threat to canvassing of PMK cadres in Villupuram and Cuddalore districts.

Chennai: PMK founder leader Dr S Ramadoss feared that the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), gripped by fear of losing the Lok Sabha polls, would unleash violence in constituencies where PMK candidates are contesting.

In a release on Tuesday, Ramadoss has noted that VCK cadres were posing a threat to canvassing of PMK cadres in Villupuram and Cuddalore districts. VCK cadres had recently posed trouble during entry of cadres of AIADMK and coalition parties led by Ministers C Ve Shanmugam and MC Sampath into areas dominated by Scheduled Castes in Villupuram and Cud-dalore districts, respectively.

Ramadoss said that VCK cadres even went to the extent of forcing PMK cadre to remove their party flags as they entered Dalit colonies, when they sought votes in favour of PMK candidate Vadivel Ravanan for election to Villupuram LS seat.

Reacting to this, VCK leader R Vanniarasu said the state intelligence wing and police must take note of the statement of Ramadoss, who is actually instigating violence. The police must register case against Ramadoss and Dr Anbumani Ramadoss for instigating violence.

Vanniarasu said, "The PMK is known for instigating violence during Lok Sabha poll in Chidambaram constituency in the past. Several huts of Dalits were set on fire. VCK never indulged in violence."

Vanniarasu recalled that recently Dr Anbumani Ramadoss allegedly hinted at booth-capturing by his coalition parties to ensure victory of their candidates in the April 18 elections. Pointing to the AIADMK candidates, Maragatham Kumaravel, for the Kancheepuram (SC) LS seat and S Arumugam for the Thiruporur Assembly by-poll, sharing space on the dais with him, Anbumani flamboyantly declared, "Both of them have won. It's done. There will be none in the rival team to question us."

The AIADMK leaders present, including former minister Valarmathi, were visibly very happy at Anbumani's exhortation, he added.
