Kochi: Months after Kanayannoor Tahsildar directed the Station House Officer, Kalamassery police station to book municipal secretary for failing to evict encroachment on a public pond in Thrikkakara North Village area, no action has been taken. The case has to be registered as per the Kerala Land Conservancy (Amendment) Act 2009, Clause 7 (C).
The notice points out that the pond is vested with the local body and hence the direction to evict encroachment was given to Kalamaserry municipality two times in the previous years. However, when the Land Revenue Commissioner inspected the documents in this regard, he directed the Tahsildar to hand over information to Station House officer. “A verification by Thrikkak-ara North Village Officer revealed that the municipal secretary has failed to evict the encroachments and hence direction is issued to register the criminal case,” the letter from the Tahsil-dar to the Station House Officer, says.
When contacted, Kanayannoor Land Records Tahsildar Nazeer Khan said that he had taken charge only three weeks ago and is not aware of the matter. “I will study it and respond after elections,” he said.
Kalamassery native Gireesh Babu told DC that the proceedings were initiated following his petition to the collector. “I was told by the station house officer on Tuesday that he has sought legal opinion on the issue,” he said.
based on which only he can act,” said Gireesh Babu....
