Kochi: 4-year-old goes missing at jetty

Kochi: A four-year-old girl went missing from the Kadamakkudy northern jetty on Tuesday afternoon. It is said she may have fallen into water. Aemey, daughter of Baiju, of South Kadamakkudy, had accompanied her father to his shed selling crabs at the jetty in the afternoon.

However, girl went missing at some point and a search was carried out by the father and the local residents. According to the operator of Chathanad-Kadamakkudy ferry service, the girl was near the shed when the ferry left for Chathanad around 2.20 p.m but was missing when it returned around 3 p.m.

On an alert, the scuba team from Fort Kochi Fire and Rescue station searched for the girl in the water at every place where she could have fallen into the water.

According to officials, they cannot even confirm that the girl had fallen into the water as none had seen it. However, the search was called off after a few hours when it turned dark.
