Khammam: With the polling date one day away, the appeal of the four contesting candidates of the main political parties from Khammam to the people reveal their state of mind in the elections and their claims. The four candidates have tried to draw the attention of the voters by explaining their party’s policies and pointing out the defects of their opponents.
Nama Nageswara Rao, TRS: As the TRS candidate, I would like to say that Khammam will develop more if the ruling party was sent to Parliament. Telangana will get more funds from the Centre and the government will complete all the ongoing irrigation and drinking water projects. There will be no big role for the two national parties — Congress and BJP — at the Centre because they cannot get a majority of seats. The new government will be constituted at the Centre with the support of the TRS. It will be an advantage for Telangana.
Renuka Chowdary, Congress: There will be more benefits to the poor if the Congress is voted to power. Women will be given 33 per cent reservations in all jobs. Each poor family will get Rs 72,000 every year. Our party will bring electoral reforms to check the illegal buying of candidates. The anarchism of Modi at the Centre and KCR in Telangana will be checked after the Congress comes to power. There is no civil rights in Telangana and KCR is behaving like a despot in the state. Rampant corruption taking place under TRS rule can be checked if the TRS’ candidate is defeated in Khammam.
Devaki Vasudeva Rao, BJP: I will work as Chowkidar of Khammam after being elected from Khammam. A special plan has been evolved for the development of Telangana and Central funds will be brought. I will try to bring new industries to the district. The international borders of the country will be strengthened further if the BJP is voted to power. Corruption will be at its height during Congress rule and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is making efforts to bring back Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi to India and collect the bank loans from them. The kisan scheme of `6,000 per acre to small and marginal farmers will be implemented in a foolproof manner. All the Central schemes being implemented by the Modi government have been extending assistance to the poor and increasing unemployment in the rural areas.
Boda Venkat, CPM: CPM is the only party in the country that had the guts to defeat the BJP. Contesting of Congress president Rahul Gandhi against CPM in Kerala has proved his ‘middle drop’ from the election fight against Modi. Instead of contesting against Modi in Varanasi, Rahul has chosen Wayanad in Kerala. There is every danger that BJP may repeal reservations to the scheduled castes and tribes and all subsidies to the poor. Modi is making the Adani and Ambanis rich and has ignored the other people. The police system in Telangana has failed totally and TRS candidates are getting money in an easy manner. Buying of votes by TRS has commenced and the EC has failed totally in checking the malpractices.
