Hyderabad:  The State Government finally constituted a lake protection committee for Warangal district, a demand that had been pending for long.  The Municipal Administration and Urban Development department, the parent body for all municipalities, on Monday issued orders to the Greater Warangal Municipal constituting committees for conservation and protection of lakes.

The committee would have to ensure listing of all lakes along with their Full Tank Level in GHWC area and launch an awareness campaign for their protection.  An action plan to desilt the lakes and their maintenance was being readied and instructions/guidelines to the agencies concerned would be issued for implementation. To clear lakes of encroachments in the FTL and foreshore areas and demarcate them up to FTL by raising bunds and arranging for watch and ward, was on the agenda of the committees.
