Tamil Nadu govt sets up 9 residential Neet coaching centres
Chennai: Tamil Nadu government has set up nine residential Neet coaching centres for best performing students in government and government aided schools to crack the common medical entrance test. The school education department is already running 412 centres in block level to prepare the students for the entrance test.
“Over 3,000 students selected for crash course based on their performances in class 10 and 12 exams. Students who applied for Neet exam alone admitted to the crash course. The course will offer Neet coaching with updated materials and experts,” an official said.
Out of 70,000 students who are undergoing Neet coaching at the 412 centres over 8,000 have applied for Neet. “These 412 centres also will simultaneously offer Neet coaching. The residential coaching will be full time coaching and students are admitted after getting approval from their parents,” the official said.
School education secretary Pradeep Yadav has inaugurated a residential Neet coaching centre at Sathyabama Institute of Science Technology in Sholinganallur in Kancheepuram district on Monday.
Speaking to reporters after the inauguration, Pradeep Yadav said this year many students from government schools will crack the Neet as the government trained both, teachers and students.
The centre will host 350 students from 12 districts including Chennai, Vellore, Thiruvallur districts. The state government also plans to inaugurate six residential centres for Tamil medium students in Coimbatore, Tiruchi, Dindigul and Virudhunagar districts.
