Bengaluru: BJP leader N.R. Ramesh's supporters staged a protest in NR Colony and Yediyur by forcibly closing all shops in the area on Monday morning after hearing that their leader had not been given the ticket to contest from Chickpet.
The supporters closed shops in NR Colony, Yediyur and Chickpet. A senior police officer said that there was a lot of chaos in Yediyur and Chickpet but they did not create any violence in the city. They screamed slogans while a diehard supporter of Mr Ramesh, attempted suicide by pouring petrol on himself and trying to set himself ablaze on Monday afternoon. Rajendra Naidu was disturbed by the fact that the BJP leader did not get the ticket. However, others stopped him and immediately poured water on him.
