Harassed' by sarpanch, bill collector ends life in Medchal

The victim's engagement was also scheduled in next two days.

Hyderabad: Fed up of allegedly being harassed by a village Sarpanch belonging to the ruling TRS party, a bill collector allegedly committed suicide at Medchal.

The body of Karkabatla Bhasker, 30, the bill collector of Gundlapochampally village, was found hanging from a tree at Arkalaguda village on Monday morning.

Bhakser’s engagement was scheduled in the next two days. Police booked an abetment to suicide case against the Sarpanch Beri Eshwar. Bhasker’s father alleged that Bhasker was depressed as a stranger had sent a message to the bride’s family that he was having an affair with a woman who is a mother of three kids due to which both the families were not in good terms for the past few days. The bride’s family was also booked for abetment to suicide.

Medchal Inspector S. Venkat Reddy stated that based on the clues and after verifying the facts, the investigation will proceed. Sarpanch Eshwar said that he is ready for the police investigation. “So many other reasons are said to be behind this. The facts will come out in the investigation,” he said.

Bhasker, a resident of Upparpally village, was working at Gundlapochampally for the past 12 years. Often he shared to his father Ramesh that the Sarpanch was harassing him and forcing him to indulge in illegal works.

A few days ago, the girl’s father received a message from an unknown number stating that Bhasker was having an illegal affair with a woman from Gundlapochampally village.

Bhasker, who left from his office on Sunday at 3 pm did not return home. His parents thought that he would have gone to meet friends and would return the next day. On Monday morning, passerby found his body and alerted the police.
Based on Bhasker’s father’s complaint, a case was registered.
