Ex-bureaucrat gets HC relief in Jagan Mohan Reddy case
Hyderabad: Hyderabad High Court on Monday granted relief to former IAS officer D. Muralidhar Reddy by staying all further proceedings pending before the Special CBI Court against him in the illegal investments case of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The CBI had named him ac-cused in allotment of lands to the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub promoted by the Indu Group in Ananthapur during Rajasekh-ar Reddy’s regime and getting undue favours from the promo-ters under the quid pro quo deals.
Mr Rao, former executive di-rector of the APIIC, had moved a petition seeking to quash the proceedings of the CBI against him.
Counsel for petitioner Sivaraju Srinivas contended at the bench of Justice Shameem Akhter that as per Section 197 of CrPC, sanction from the state sovernment was required to prosecute a government servant for offences under IPC and the State Government had refused sanction.
He submitted that the CBI had admitted that the petitioner performed the duty as per orders of the MD of the APIIC and the CBI also failed to show any evidence that he had received any benefits from the promoters.
