BENGALURU: Three days after a suicide attempt during a press meet at the Press Club here, an FIR has been registered against former corporator and rowdy V. Nagaraj alias Bomb Naga.
Attempting suicide is a punishable act under Section 309 of the IPC. Though it has been decriminalised under the new Mental Health Care Bill passed by both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, it is yet to become a law. Nagaraj, alleging mental torture from KPCC working president Dinesh Gundurao, Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George and several police officers, attempted suicide by consuming poison on April 6. He was rushed to St. Martha's hospital where he underwent treatment and is out of danger.
