Chennai: Three killed in three separate road accidents

Class 3 student, private firm employee, college student killed.

Chennai: A Class 3 student, private firm employee and a college student were killed in three separate road accidents over the last two days.

Harish, the Class 3 student, was killed by a speeding minivan when he was playing outside his house. On hearing his scream, some residents tried to intercept the vehicle, but it sped away on Ennore Express Highway.

The Kattur police personnel have registered a case and further investigations are on, while his body has been sent to the Ponneri government hospital for an autopsy.

On Saturday morning, in yet another road accident, a 22-year-old man on a bike was knocked down and run over by a container lorry at Vallur near Minjur.

Rajesh Kumar, the victim who is a resident of Vellivoyalchavadi near Minjur, was on his way to work at Ennore Foundries around 7 am when he met with the accident.

In another tragic accident, a 20-year-old college student was burnt to death after his bike, rammed into a lorry and caught fire on Saturday evening. The police said that Raj Kumar (20) and Abhishek(21), who were studying third-year engineering at a private college were riding on the Kundrathur road around 4 pm. near Kovur when they met with the
accident.

“Abhishek, who was riding pillion escaped with minor injuries, while Raj Kumar was riding the bike with a helmet on,” said a police officer. His legs were caught in the bike and were dragged along for some distance.

The fire accident happened when the bike, which was trailing, leaked petrol from the fuel tank that caught fire due to friction. Raj Kumar sustained severe burns and died on the spot, while Abhishek was rushed to the Chromepet government hospital. The Poonamallee Traffic investigation police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
