Genuine T-activists being disregarded: Kodandaram
Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M. Kodandram on Wednesday expressed dismay over the TRS government ignoring people who fought for separate statehood while giving preference to those who had suppressed the T-movement and others who were not part of the movement.
“Many T-movement leaders and activists met me and expressed dismay at the government giving preference to those who had suppressed the movement. Some of them have become ministers and others are holding key positions. I certainly agree with them and understand how they may be feeling,” Prof. Kodandaram said.
He made these remarks at Vikarabad where he called on the family of T-activist Mahender Reddy who died in a road accident. The TJAC leader, who ruled the roost during the Telangana movement, has been keeping a low profile after formation of Telangana State. He has rarely met the Chief Minister, except when he extended an invitation for his son’s wedding.
“They (T-movement leaders) did not give any memorandum but expressed their dismay at the emergence of ‘non-movement’ activists and their domination. People who suppressed the movement and spoke against it are now ministers,” Prof. Kodandaram alleged.
He urged the Chief Minister to give preference in welfare and others schemes besides nominated posts to those activists, who devoted their energies to the movement.
