Hyderabad roads to be choc-o-bloc during E-Prix on Sunday

Hyderabad: As the city gears up for the Hyderabad E-Prix, officials said the roads leading to, and going past, NTR Marg, where the event will be held, would be choc-o-bloc with vehicles on Saturday. With multiple traffic diversions and restrictions in place around the Hyderabad street circuit, motorists using those routes could have some trouble.

For better commuting, motorists could avoid routes around the Hussainsagar and adjoining junctions like VV Statue (Khairatabad), Old Saifabad PS, Ravindra Bharathi, Mint Compound road, the Telugu Talli Junction, Necklace Rotary, Katta Maisamma temple on Lower Tank Bund road and the Tank Bund.

For those reaching the venue, parking lots have been created at Jalavihar and People's Plaza, both of which would mean people using personal transport will have to walk for a long distance to reach their stands on NTR Marg. The Hyderabad Metro seems to be a better option, according to many, as the walking distance from the Khairatabad station to the seats could be much shorter.

According to a source from Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, security will be beefed up in and outside the Khairatabad station. The station will also see additional staff deployed for smoother operations and management in case of any untoward incidents and rush. The Red Line is also said to have a couple more ticketing staff than normal for the day. The team is also mulling additional trains just for the race.

According to one of the sources from the organising team, those who purchased tickets to grandstands 1-5 may not have access to the Fan Village, which would be the stage for entertainment, where artists are likely to perform. Grandstands 6-24 would have access to the Fan Village at People's Plaza.
