WhatsApp account of TD MP suspended

According to reports, Mr Ramesh's WhatsApp account was not working for the past seven days.

VIJAYAWADA: The WhatsApp account of Telugu Desam Rajya Sabha member C.M. Ramesh has been reportedly suspended by the social messaging company, it was learnt on Saturday.

According to reports, Mr Ramesh’s WhatsApp account was not working for the past seven days. After attempting to unlock it, he took it to the notice of WhatsApp which is when he was informed about the suspension.

Mr Ramesh said he had waited for about a week for the WhatsApp account to start functioning, assuming that whatever technical difficulty caused it to stop would be resolved. When it did not, he contacted the WhatsApp support centre but did not get a proper response, Mr Ramesh said.

He said he had not sent any content that was abusive or objectionable on the WhatsApp, and said it was linked to his office number. He said the number was part of WhatsApp groups comprising TD MPs and he had never posted anything that was objectionable.

Mr Ramesh alleged that the BJP and the Centre were behind blocking his account. He said he would move court against the blocking of his account. He said he would raise the issue during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
