Bengaluru: Rains pour misery on motorists

Koramangala, BTM Layout, Domlur, Indiranagar and Bannerghatta road worst affected.

Bengaluru: The city witnessed a heavy downpour on Saturday evening, which provided a much needed relief from the humid weather that was prevailing for the past few days.

However the traffic was thrown out of gear as the roads got flooded in many parts of the city.

The problem was acute in places where the ongoing infrastructure works such as flyover or metro were in progress. At many places motorists got stuck for hours.

The worst affected areas were Koramangala, BTM Layout, Domlur, Indiranagar, Race Course Road and Bannerghatta Road, where traffic moved at a snail’s pace.

"There were bottlenecks near Silk Board and Mahadevapura. Mysuru Road too experience slow moving traffic," a Bengaluru Traffic Police official said.

More showers forecast.

In the next 24 hours fairly widespread moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to cover south interior part of the state, while dry weather would prevail over North Interior Karnataka and Coastal region of the state.

According to Skymet Weather a trough has formed extending from Maldives to North Karnataka, while passing through interior parts of Tamil Nadu and this has resulted in rain.

Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Koramangala, Banashankari, Basavanagudi heavy rain.

No major casualty or damage was reported. Near Nimhans a tree branch fell, but no one was injured.
