Make public Kempanna report: Jagadish Shettar

The government is clearly trying to conceal something mentioned in the report, he charged.

Bengaluru: Continuing his attack on the government, leader of the opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Jagadish Shettar on Friday wondered why it had not tabled the report of the Kempanna Commission on denotification of land at the Arkavathy layout in the city although it had submitted it well over a year ago.

Delivering his speech on the motion to thank Governor's address, Mr Shettar said, “Though it has been over a year since the commission submitted its report and two Assembly sessions have gone by, the government has not yet tabled it in the House. Besides, the CM’s office selectively leaked the report’s contents to the media claiming it had given him a clean chit. If there are no irregularties, why is the government not tabling the report?''

Also, demanding the tabling of the socio-economic survey of all communities conducted by the government, he argued that under the norms, such reports were tabled in the Assembly at the very next session after they were submitted.

The government is clearly trying to conceal something mentioned in the report,” he charged.

Mr Shettar urged the government to cancel the recruitments made for KPTCL, claiming the qualification for the post of engineers was changed arbitrarily.

“When the notification was issued, the qualification for the post was BE and MTech. But at the last minute it was changed to B.Tech. This helped only candidates from Andhra Pradesh get jobs in the KPTCL and deprived candidates from Karnataka of the opportunity,” he deplored.
