Kerala: Cabinet put off for want of quorum
Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Cabinet meeting scheduled for Friday could not take place because of lack of quorum. Of the 19 member ministry, only six ministers arrived for the meeting. The Cabinet was scheduled to discuss re promulgation of certain ordinances. The Cabinet will now meet again on Monday to take up the ordinances. The four ministers belonging to CPI were absent from the meeting as they were away in Wayanad to attend the party district conference.
Some of the other minsters were attending functions in their respective districts. The last cabinet had decided to hold the special cabinet on Friday. Official sources said the extension of 17 ordinances was to be taken up at the meeting. Since the presence of majority of the ministers is required for taking decisions on ordinances, Cabinet will meet on Monday to decide on the matter.
