Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test to be held on March 25, 26

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (Tancet) 2017, the entrance test for postgraduate engineering courses will be conducted on March 25 and 26. Anna University announced that candidates, who are seeking admissions to MBA, MCA, ME, M.Tech, M.Arch and M.Plan courses can register online for the exam till February 20.

“Last year around 37,000 students applied for the entrance exam. This year we expect more applications as there is an increase in the number of students appearing for entrance exams like GATE,” said Mallika, secretary, Tancet. “We are following the same syllabus as for GATE exam. For MBA and MCA courses the exam will be held on March 25 and for post-graduate engineering, the exam will be held on March 26,” she said.

Approximately 20,000 post-graduate engineering seats are available for the single window counselling. For the last few years, the number of post-graduate engineering entrance test applicants is coming down. But, the officials are expecting the trend to reverse this year. The number of available MCA seats may come down this year as many colleges closed down the MCA course. But, MBA seats likely to increase as many colleges are showing interest to revive the course in their colleges. Anna University also plans to send the circular to all colleges intimating about the entrance exam.
