Hyderabad: Man dies of swine flu, bill on social media
Hyderabad: With extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) not available at government hospitals, patients are forced to go to corporate hospitals. This has resulted in disputes over bills, as with the case of a 50-year-old patient who died of swine flu on February 5 at Care Hospitals.
The family took to social media to allege that they were not told of the high cost.
Care Hospital superintendent Dr Gopi Krishna said the patient, brought from Premier Hospital. had a heart attack, lung injury and was on dialysis. He said the family had been told of the cost and agreed for ECMO, but the treatment did not work. Sources said the bills were not cleared.
