Chennai: Meet decides to chalk out action plan to fight drought
Chennai: Commissioner of revenue administration (CRA) P. Sathyagopal on Thursday conducted a high-level meeting with the state water managers and district collectors to gauge the drought situation in all the districts. The top official during his interaction with the collectors through video conferencing urged the administrators to chalk out an action plan for every village and taluk in the state.
Pointing out that the state was heading towards a severe water crisis, the CRA, who also heads the state disaster management authority, urged the officials to complete the water augment works at the earliest. Besides identifying vulnerable areas prone for drought, the official also urged the collectors to come up with solutions.
Sathyagopal also enquired about the summer drinking water management plan with Dheeraj Kumar, managing director of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board. "We are monitoring all our water resources and examining storage levels. We have advanced the summer management plan and a few more rounds of meeting will be held to tackle the summer drought," Sathyagopal said.
