Hyderabad IDH Colony not fully occupied
Hyderabad: The ruling party’s much-flaunted IDH Colony at Bhoiguda has not been completely occupied yet.
A few original beneficiaries are yet to occupy the flats. Residents who gave their flats for development had to live on rent for 11 months till it was completed in November 2015.
The government has promised to build 1 lakh such houses in GHMC area with each house costing Rs 8 lakh.
A visit to the IDH model by DC found 96 flats still unoccupied. President of the colony Mr D. Murthi said, “A total of 396 flat have been constructed, minor works are pending in 96. The earlier dilapidated building was broken down in January 2015 and the works were completed in November. For 11 months the families lived in rented houses; those who could not afford them lived in Bhoiguda community hall and shelters built on an open space adjacent to the site. The 96 flats will apparently be ready by Shivaratri.”
The model colony was built by clubbing five bastis – IDH colony , Ammuguda, Parsiwada , Bhagat Singh Nagar and Subhash Chandra Bose Nagar. The 396 flats that existed earlier had single bedrooms. The GHMC took over the footpaths and certain portions of the wide roads to construct double bedroom houses. During construction, five families lived in the Bhoiguda community hall and 15 in shelters built on open spaces by the contractor.
Vice president of the colony Mr S.A. Rashid said, “Original beneficiaries were allocated the flats. Based on the patta certificate the flats were given, no one has given their flats on rent.”
The beneficiaries of these flats include 276 SCs, 31 STs, 79 BCs and 10 minorities. The total cost of the project is around Rs 37 crore.
