C M Ibrahim grabbed govt land for college: Karnataka BJP secretary N R Ramesh

He demanded a survey of the land on which the college had been established in Nagawara ward.

Bengaluru: BJP secretary, N.R. Ramesh on Tuesday accused senior Congress leader, C. M. Ibrahim of running his engineering college on land fraudulently acquired from the BBMP and the government in the city.

Speaking to reporters here he demanded a survey of the land on which the college had been established in Nagawara ward and a CBI investigation into the matter.

Alleging that documents had been fabricated to help Mr Ibrahim take over the land, Mr Ramesh charged that although the Assistant Commissioner had issued an order taking back the land, the Congress leader was still enjoying it and had even built a college on it without an approved building plan.

He claimed that Mr Ibrahim had illegally purchased around 19.33 acres near Nagawara for his college although part of it had been notified by the BDA for the Vyalikaval Housing Society.

“Mr. Ibrahim bought some of the land from eight farmers at a throwaway price. Two farmers Anjinappa and Muniyappa have since lodged criminal cases against him. Of the 19.33 acres, 13.23 acres belonged to the government and are worth nearly '400 crore . The remaining 6.1 acres belonged to the BBMP and are valued at '175 crore,” the BJP leader maintained.

He also alleged that that an Akhata was issued in the name of the Karnataka State Muslim Federation by bringing pressure on the special tahasildar of Benglauru North taluk.

“In November 2015, Mr. Ibrahim applied to the BDA for an A khata for the 6.1 acres of BBMP land. Bowing to pressure, the BDA has begun the process to issue the khata,” he claimed, demanding that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah take stringent action against Mr. Ibrahim and reclaim the land.

Revealing that a complaint had been lodged with the BMTF, he maintained there was enough evidence to back it. “In 2000, the Deputy Commissioner (Bengaluru Urban) submitted a report on the issue saying land records, including Rights to Tenancy and Cultivation had been fabricated. Besides, the assistant commissioner has asked for the land to be handed over to the BDA,” he said.
