Thiruvananthapuram: Strikers attacked the SBI treasury branch near Secretariat here around 10:30 am on Wednesday, though it functioned smoothly on the first day of the national strike.

A group entered the office and damaged computers, phones and a table inside the manager’s cabin, following a scuffle with the officers.

The police registered a case against 15 people caught on CCTV cameras. The footage obtained from the SBI branch at Statue showed Left labour organisation leaders. Those identified by the police included NGO Union state committee member and GST department Karamana Commissioner Office inspector Suresh Babu and GST deputy commissioner office inspector Suresh.

The bank manager, Santosh Karunakaran, lodged a complaint with Cantonment police station.

"The protesters barged into my cabin and asked if I did not know that today is a protest day," he told reporters.

"I told them that although we are open, banking operations were not taking place. Then they threw away the computer and other equipment on my table."
