Rajahmundry: Bank employees form human chain to protest

They alleged that banks were facing financial trouble due to mounting bad debts.

Rajahmundry: Bank employees along with representatives from several trade unions continued their stir for the second consecutive day on Wednesday in protest against the Centre’s anti-worker and anti-people policies and staged a protest by forming a human chain at the Subramanyam grounds on Wednesday.

They alleged that banks were facing financial trouble due to mounting bad debts and NPAs and flayed the Centre for failing to initiate stern action against big industrialists involved in fraudulent practices. They demanded setting up new branches of the banks and to take up recruitment of employees to address the unemployment problem in the country and provide better banking services for customers. They also demanded a pay revision for bank employees, that has been pending for long.

Meanwhile, as the bank employees were on two days’ strike, financial transactions worth crores were affected while ATMs turned dry with no replenishing of cash.
