Panic as bomb attacks continue in Perambra

Peace panel meet of no use

KOZHIKODE: The clashes between political parties in Perambra reached a peak point with houses being targeted triggering fear to the common people. Bombs were being hurled frequently here and the aged people who are mostly at homes are bearing the brunt.

In the wee hours of Wednesday, a bomb was thrown at the house of CPM worker Vettuva-nkandy Meethal Sreed-haran at Eravattur. The door and window panes were broken. The roof sealing was also damaged.

People and traders are on their toes following the frequent attacks even after the peace committee meeting. The tension following the hartal sponsored by Sabarimala Karma Samiti had led to a tussle between the CPM and the BJP and the CPM and the UDF.

Two days ago the CPM branch secretary was arrested in the incident of stone pelting against Perambra town Juma Masjid. The charge slapped was attempt to incite communal violence, a grave one. But the CPM insists that the case was fake and stone against the masjid was not pelted from the DYFI rally as was being said. The CPM has come in the open against UDF for campaigning with communal tone. “Some police officials too were part of the drama to indict CPM in a communally sensitive case,” alleged the CPM district secretariat.

Meanwhile, the arrested CPM leader Athuldas (23), has got bail from Perambra magistrate court on Wednesday. IUML district general secretary C.P.A Azeez alleged that the apathy of police helped the accused to get bail in such a strong case.
