Bengaluru: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee has encroached upon 4,000 sqft of land worth Rs 12 crore, alleged city BJP spokesman and former corporator N.R. Ramesh on Wednesday.
He said the land, adjoining the KPCC office, has been encroached by Congress MLAs and corporators, some of whom are facing criminal charges. He said that cases have been registered with the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Bengaluru Metropolitan Task Force and Lokayukta against the encroachment. A criminal case too has been filed against the KPCC with the ACMM court, he said.
Miller’s Tank, created by the British, came up on the kharan land of Survey Numbers 16, 17, 18 and 19 of Bilekahalli village, Benglauru North taluk. Of the 41-acre lake, 28 acres have been leased to different organisations.
The BBMP has leased two properties in the tank bund area. 17,037 sqft was leased for 99 years in 1993 and 19,420 sqft for 30 years in 2004 to the KPCC president.
The BBMP had leased 12,024 sqft of land, but sent notices to cancel the lease as it was not used for the proposed reason. Of the 12,024 sqft, only 8,000 sqft is available, while the remaining land worth Rs 12 crore has been encroached by KPCC, he alleged.
He demanded the BBMP commissioner file a case of government land encroachment and carry out a survey of the land leased to KPCC, SC/ST corporation and others to know the extent of encroachment.

KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao rubbished the allegations made by Mr Ramesh and said Mr Ramesh has the habit of making baseless allegations. There is no encroachment and the land being utilised by KPCC is in accordance with the law, he said.
