Jagan Mohan Reddy vows to walk the talk

Ichapuram (Srikakulam): YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday concluded his marathon Praja Sankalpa Yatra with an assurance of better governance at the doorstep of the people through decentralisation of administration.

Mr Reddy also promised to increase the number of districts in the state from the existing 13 to 25 for efficiency and an improvised version of Navaratnalu to benefit all sections of society.

The small town in Srikakulam resembled a sea of humanity with YSRC workers and leaders from across the state descending to see their leader.

The 3,648-km odyssey, stretched over 341 days culminated in a public meeting at the north-eastern tip of the state on Wednesday, with the Leader of the Opposition addressing a mammoth gathering. Mr Reddy took the opportunity to announce that when his party comes to power with the blessings of people, decentralisation of administration and governance would take centre-stage to ensure that all welfare schemes reach all sections of society.

Though the Praja Sankalpa Yatra concluded, the fight for justice continues, Mr Reddy said, appealing to the people to join him in the fight against injustice and TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu and his coterie, who he alleged has been cheating all sections of people.

With the number of districts increasing from 13 to 25, governance would be transparent and easy, and village secretariats would form as the focal points from where all Navaratnas would reach out to the local populace on saturation basis without looking into political, social or other parameters, Mr Reddy said.
