Andhra Pradesh employees get extended vacation
Vijayawada: State government employees who participated in the Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programmes will now get to take an extended vacation.
The state government has decided to give special casual leaves on January 17 and 18 to these employees, in lieu of working in the Janmabhoomi programmes on holidays. This means that the employees will get nine days of continuous holidays.
Sankranti holidays are scheduled from January 12 to 16, and January 19 is Saturday and 20 Sunday.
With the government declaring special casual leaves on January 17 and 18, the two day ‘gap’ has been filled and employees are expected to make good use of the bonus.
Reminding that the Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme started on January 2 and would conclude on January 11, senior bureaucrat Mukesh Kumar Meena said that employees and officials had been continuously participating in the mass contact programme without a break. He said that taking this into consideration, the government sanctioned special leaves.
Mr Meena said that all the government employees and officials who participated in the Janmabhoomi programmes can avail the benefit.
This practically means that administrative work will grind to a halt across the state since a majority of the government employees have been participating in the mass contact programme.
The employees and officials thanked the state government and said that this was a godsend for them. “It is indeed a great opportunity to spend time in out native place with our families after a long time,” said an employee.
